BOEING BIRD OF PREY EDF DEVELOPMENT
This development started with the construction of a pink foam chuck glider to test CG locations, and wing incidence studies. Once the test glides of the chuck glider were successful. I added RC equipment and a speed 280 motor and created a prop pusher model from the glider. It took alot of tries to get the control throw correct. I had 3 successful flight and 5 short flights ending in crashes. The plane suffered a lot of damage and gained alot of weight. I decided to retire the plane and build a larger version that I could try an EDF unit.
This is a picture of the chuck glider all painted and waiting for the motor.
These two pictures show the EDF version model waiting for the Wemotec 50 mm microfan and Hacker B20 12L BL motor, 10 cell 600AE Nicad battery. AUW will be 16 oz.
This is a comparison between the EDF version of the Bird of Prey and the first pusher version
