COMPOSITE TWINJET EDF DEVELOPMENT
MOLD CONSTRUCTION
This is the beginning of another one of my crazy ideas. I want to try 3 setups with the twin jet as a base. So I am creating glass molds and making up three composite twin jets. One will be a prop set up, one will be a twin minifan 480, and the third will be a Midi fan single.

A little mold making 101. This picture shows a filled and sanded Twin Jet with aluminum flashing used to create the parting line for the two mold halves.

The mold is almost done.

The twin mini fan version will have F18 style ducts on the underside of the wing and the two fans slung on either side of the aft fuselage with rounded fairings visible from the top. 5" long tail cones. 10 cell 2400's, Hacker B40 7 L motors. RTF weight 52.4 oz.

The molds are done except for a little clean up. After doing some test layups and foam studies. I am going back to the 2 layer layup of 2 oz cloth, with no foam injection. The wing will use 2 carbon fiber reinforced spars and foam ribs. The fuse will be hollow and the pocket for the batteries is eliminated. Weight looks good so far.
